First grade uses a Standards Based report card and grading system.  Numerical grades are not given.  Instead, your child will receive a level which will represent their progress.  The four levels are: Advanced, Proficient, Basic, and Below Basic.

·      ADVANCED:  Your child has mastered the skill with
                                      few or no mistakes.

·      PROFICIENT:  Your child has mastered the skill with
                                         minimal mistakes.

·      BASIC:  Your child has not mastered the skill and has
fallen slightly below the Proficient level.  He/she
needs additional practice and instruction to reach
                         a proficient level.

·      BELOW BASIC:  Your child has not mastered the skill
                                             and needs additional practice and
                                             instruction.

Our goal in First Grade is to have all students proficient in
all subject areas.  Anything higher is fantastic!  By working together at both school and home, let’s try to achieve this goal.
